One of the most anticipated eSport events of the season, the Intel Extreme Masters, has just ended! It was a fast run, full of emotions, where pro-players from all around the world competed on high-level tournaments of the major competitive gaming titles while thousands of enthusiasts followed their performances live or via Internet.
The atmosphere was simply amazing in the Spodek arena when the finalists entered the stage. We are sure that if you followed the live stream that you had goosebumps as much as we had in the audience. The mighty CS:GO Fnatic team kept their legendary status alive by bringing home another first place. The League of Legends defending World Champions, SKT T1, also kept their title and swept the competition winning all their matches. In StarCraft II, Choi "Polt" Seong Hun was crowned champion of this edition as for the other titles, AKA Wonder won the Hearthstone tournament, and WRTP and Team Dignitas respectively won the Intel Challenge Katowice and the HotS tournament.
The EXPO was huge part of the event, where we were able to visit the booths of many well-known companies such as Intel, Razer, X-COM, Sprite and more. We also managed to play a little bit of Rise of the Tomb Raider and many other games.
We also had the occasion to experience what it is like to be a pro-player... well at least from the equipment point of view! The best available processors, graphic cards, microphones, pads, and even gaming chairs were exposed in Katowice and we have to say it: they can really change the quality of our gaming experience.
Some lucky visitors managed to win all-sorts of goodies (from t-shirts to professional PC equipment) in various competitions involving questions about games, companies and eSport rivalries. Our gaming knowledge was really tested!
And with the high number of Youtube stars and eSport legends, our need of autographs and wordy gossip was fully satisfied.
Three intense days of videogames and eSports left us delighted of this adventure, the event was amazing and the organization superb, no wonder even this year all the tickets were completely sold out! The crowd was incredible and it cheered indifferently winners and losers.
When we left Katowice on Sunday, there was only one thought which could comfort our sadness, the thought of the next edition of the Intel Extreme Masters. We are already counting the days!
