Former Riot Developer Aaron "Sanjuro" Rutledge has separated from Riot Games in wake of harmful comments against Tyler Steinkamp or better known as Tyler 1. Rutledge was found in the official League of Legends Discord saying that Steinkamp will, "die of a coke overdose or testicular cancer from all the steroids." And "He looks like a damn homunculus." These were just two of the many, many horrible things Rutledge said about Stienkamp.
Tyler 1 is a well-known figure in the League of Legends Community, for both good and bad reasons. He first came to light as a toxic (meaning mean and rude to teammates) player who would rage and feed (killing himself via the enemy team over and over again). Him feeding coined the popular term, "Running it down mid." He also coined the popular meme, "hehe xd". After having over ten accounts banned from the game Riot decided to indefinitely ban him from the game and ban any account that they find he's on in the future. Since being banned he claims to have worked on his attitude and approaches problems with positivity and without trouble. He is claiming that he is a reformed individual now and wishes to publicly play the game again.
Rutledge is among the people that think he should stay in the game for good. He thinks that he's still doing it for show and that it is, "the comedy of his streams and his brand." Which Tyler 1 has said that "It really sucks that some people still hold a massive grudge vs old T1 and refuse to acknowledge I've changed." He even posted a video saying: " I do not do steroids. I have never taken any kind of drugs like that. I don't do cocaine. I do not drink alcohol. I do not drink soda. I don't do any of that. None of it. Never have. Never will. I haven't drunk a soda since eighth grade. I do not have cancer in my nutsack. And I never will, hopefully." Tyler 1 showing that he is treating this situation with his new outlook on life and without any hostility. He has even forgiven Rutledge for the comments.
After Rutledge's apology which said:
"Reddit, League Players, Tyler - I displayed a gross error in judgment last night and wholeheartedly apologize for my comments. They were out of line, and not what any of you deserve to hear, especially from a Rioter. I'll be taking time away from Reddit, discord and in-game chat to reflect on how I communicate with players. Sorry again for the insults and the language."
Another Riot member named, "Riot Cactopus" on Reddit apologized for Rutledge's
Behavior and apologized to Tyler 1. They also stated that this type of behaviour is not accepted and will be handled with internally.
On Rutledge's LinkedIn page it shows he is not a part of Riot Gaming anymore, showing that toxicity can come from outside and inside the game too.
