How to increase accuracy?

Added epichobogromit 03.04.2015, 20:59

I have been playing CS:GO for a while now but my aim can sometimes be a little off so I would like to know how to get my aim spot on in some sort of training scenario

There are some great maps available to download from the CSGO workshop on steam. Just type in training on the search bar and some decent ones will come up.

Some other tips on improving your aim include:

Learning the recoil of different guns
Having a decent mouse pad, with a decent mouse
Finding the right sensitivity levels on your mouse which feel most comfortable (usually 1 swipe across your mouse pad should rotate your character 360 degrees)
Practice on deathmatch servers...

Hope this helps somewhat and Happy Easter!

Practice in the training arena. Also, during a match, to improve your accuracy, hold ctrl and shoot in short-blasts instead of loading the entire ammunition onto your enemy.

What CenturionCheese said holds. To add to that I would say that you should aim lower than you normally would with weapons that unload. The Negev has a very strange recoil since it is the only weapon with a completely predictable recoil weapon, after .75 seconds all shots go above and to the right of the center. It is an exception, with most weapons just go short burst even if at close range. Having 5 bullets left while your enemy is reloading is extremely useful.

You need to train your accuracy in special workshop maps. Aim_course, aim_map and try to get just in head. Or see special videos

When you're going around corners, crouch, breathe deeply, and turn around the corner slowly while staying crouched, you'll see your aim improve simply with crouching and breathing.

Crouch is the main key, also go for tap shooting. Do not spray like crazy . There are some maps in workshop solely made for increasing accuracy and understanding about different guns, give them a try .

Get a mouse pad
Train on aim courses.
Try to aim for the head all the time.
Learn spray patterns.
And learn the basic spots

Learn Recoil for the guns you use. Practice is the best way as it has always been.

1- I usually practise with the maps from CS:GO workshop. The one I personally like is the Fast Aim/Reflex Training Map.
2- Set your mouse sensitivity till it's confortable to play with. The lower the better. Also disable mouse acceleration.
3- Learn the recoil of the guns (especially the ones you frequently use like Ak-47 or M4A4)
4- Put your crosshair at head-level/chest-level so when you or your opponent peeks, there's no need to aim.
5- Learn pre-firing spots. This can give you a huge advantage when peeking corners.
4- Practise and practise and practise :3

Good luck!

Deathmatch and armsrace really helped me in the beginning. Especially armsrace, I think, since I got to play many different weapons, shoot from various ranges and practice my reactions there.
(I used to play CS 1.6 many years ago so it was VERY frustrating at first when my aim was completely off :((( )

don't forget to learn the basic nades to improve your rank by a bit if you have honed your aim and is at your best or at a state that you can't progress further or need to find a quicker option to get a better rank

make sure if your spraying with an ak or m4 always shoot then crouch, a lot of people make that mistake, crouching after the start of a spray helps to control the spray a lot easier
